DESIGNER FOCUS: Suru Studio

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO CREATE SURU STUDIO?
Jewellery making has always been a part of me. I used to do it back in Argentina. Back then it was more like a hobby I did my wedding ring or would create special pieces for friends. I just loved the process. As Covid hit I realised I missed the craft of jewellery making and the desire to have my own brand grew exponentially. So I decided to find a way I could, with the help of hands around the world, get the engine moving. And so Suru Studio was born.


WHAT HAVE BEEN THE BIGGEST LEARNING CURVES OF RUNNING YOUR OWN BUSINESS?
I’m still learning, but so far I believe it has been patience, planning and trusting myself.


WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION FROM?
I’m mainly driven by nature’s shapes and the richness and kindness of the earth, like gemstones and crystals. I grab elements and turn them into pieces for everyday wear. It's very important for me to create items that are timeless.


HOW DO YOU LOOK AFTER YOUR JEWELLERY?
Because I work with gold plated brass, it’s very important to protect them from water, perfumes, creams among others. With the 9.25 sterling silver items just polish them with a cotton cloth.


WHAT PIECES DO YOU NEVER TAKE OFF?
The Feliz earrings.

WE KNOW HOW MUCH YOU LOVE FASHION, WHAT'S YOUR EVERYDAY UNIFORM?
For winter: an oversized grey marle jumper, a t-shirt, black and white tailored baggy pants, coloured socks, black leather Nike shoes and Beanie.

For summer: a printed dress, always a cardigan in my purse (cause you know, A/C) and a pair of Mexican Bergen’s sandals.

Comfort is crucial for me and i always add a little jewellery.


WHAT DO YOU DO TO RELAX?
Read a book and exercise. I’ve been doing 30mins workouts for the past couple of months and realised that even thought it’s an effort I end up being relaxed and with a clear mind.
